CLB 9 for Express Entry: The Truth About Achieving Success

Are you frustrated with your CELPIP Speaking Score?  You may have already taken the test and achieved CLB 9 in Listening, Speaking and Writing, but CLB 9 in Speaking eludes you.

Many newcomer professionals have the goal of gaining Express Entry points by achieving CLB 9  in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. They come to me for coaching, hoping for quick results in speaking with just a few sessions. But here’s the reality: there is no shortcut to speaking proficiency. Speaking at a CLB 9 level requires a strong foundation in English.  It can’t be achieved by memorizing answers or trying to game the test.

If you’re serious about reaching CLB 9, it takes dedication. My most successful students commit to consistent practice (two sessions per week over several months) and actively immerse themselves in English outside of our sessions.

Independent practice and lesson attendance aren’t just “study sessions”; they’re transformative experiences that build the speaking and language skills needed for CELPIP.

I’ve had candidates try to shortcut the process by copying CELPIP questions into ChatGPT and then sending me recordings of scripts they read aloud.  While this might seem like a quick fix, the topics on the CELPIP are unpredictable and constantly evolving. Relying on memorized AI generated content won’t work. Building a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary and organized responses over several  months is the inconvenient truth.

To make real progress, focus on building your foundational skills, do homework properly, and immerse yourself in English. This is the path to mastering CLB 9, and I’m here to help you every step of the way as your 1:1 CELPIP speaking coach.

Let’s set up a strategy for your speaking success. Message me if you’re ready to put in the work.
